Choosing How We React

(This is an excerpt from the book The Next Few Years Will Change Your Life from former BYU and NBA basketball player, Travis Hansen.)

The first day in the gym in Barcelona I was stretching out and Pešic´ came over to me. “I heard your agent said you are 100 percent.”

“Yes, I am. It still swells up after I play, but I feel good,” I said.

“Well,” said Pešic´. “You should fire your trainer and your doctors back home. Your face is fat and you look out of shape.”

My next thoughts weren’t the kindest I’ve ever had.

We have all had someone call us names, talk behind our backs, judge us, or treat us unfairly. We have all had sorrows, heartaches, worries, sadness, and pain. If we can get past blaming others, we can learn to soar. Take your life into your own hands and what happens? A special thing, there is no one to blame.

Where does the power lie? In you.
