My ideas for studying may seem sequential and linear. First, you pray; then, you read, and so on. And of course, there is a beginning point, but in reality, it‘s not quite that orderly. In fact, as you dive deeper and deeper, it all runs together in messy ways. You keep praying. You go down this road, then that, as you look at the historical records. You think of scriptures, you think of more questions, your everyday life pops up, the things you already know to be true deepen into a new understanding, you read a current conference talk or hear a lesson and fit new pieces into the puzzle, and on and on. “Line upon line” sounds so tidy, but learning to me always feels more like “a little right here and a little way over there,” a flash here and a stupor there.
